Hug A Sheep Day

Hug A Sheep Day

National Hug a Sheep Day is a holiday celebrated on October 28th each year. It is a day dedicated to raising awareness about the care and well-being of sheep and celebrating their role in agriculture and the economy. The day encourages people to hug a sheep (if it is safe and appropriate to do so), learn about their care and the products they provide such as wool, and support local farmers who raise sheep. The holiday is celebrated through various events and activities such as sheep shearing demonstrations, wool spinning workshops, and sheep-themed crafts and games.

This is the day for people to hug their sheep — whether those sheep are with them in real life or are just there in a symbolic way. Sheep have done so much for humankind, it’s kind of hard to dismiss all of their contributions. That’s why we’re encouraging everyone to use the hashtag #HugASheepDay on social media to spread the love of these domestic animals.
