Shades Day

In the United Kingdom, Shades Day is celebrated annually on the closest Friday to International Day of the Family. This year, the holiday will fall on May 17th. The Family Holiday Association (F.H.A.) created Shades Day as a way to provide seaside breaks and day trips to families struggling with difficult challenges, such as bereavement, illness, mental health issues, and domestic violence. Because the charity receives no government funding, it relies solely on donations and fundraisers for income. Sun’s out? Shades out!
